Kleinfelder provided construction management, engineering, and design services to Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) for the energization of the new Under Armour (UA) headquarters campus in Baltimore, Maryland. The team of professionals worked directly with BGE, the developer, and UA to meet all project deadlines ahead of the opening in November 2024.

Baltimore Peninsula Redevelopment

Baltimore Peninsula is a 235-acre master-planned, mixed-use redevelopment project, with a prime location on the waterfront in Baltimore, and is expected to create thousands of new jobs, new residential housing, attract new businesses, and provide new opportunities for Baltimore City residents and its workforce. The new Under Armour Campus project was one of three major development projects on the peninsula. Our engineers and design teams took a wholistic approach to the energy demands and designed solutions that allowed all three projects to move forward on-schedule and within allotted budgets.

Gas and Electric Energization Services

Kleinfelder’s team of professionals served as the primary electric and gas engineering representative between BGE and the developer for all gas and electric distribution activities for the new campus. This included the design and oversight of several new gas and electric services throughout the Baltimore Peninsula, which were extended to the new Under Armour campus. Throughout the life of the project, the team managed material deliveries, coordinated with field personnel to schedule work activities, and monitored cut-ins of the new services.

Additional features of the project include solar panels on the top roof, a green roof on the Brand House and Performance Center, sun shades on the glass, rainwater harvesting, and geothermal heating and cooling underground. The property features a dedicated stormwater retention pond, as well as solar panels on the covered outdoor parking area.

Project Results

Kleinfelder’s efforts on this project are an important contribution to one of the largest urban redevelopment projects in the country, as well as the development of the Under Armour World Headquarters. The new campus successfully opened in November 2024, housing 1,500 employees, a 30,000-square-foot retail store, stadium, and parking.
