San Diego International Airport New Terminal 1 Celebrates Grand Opening
Kleinfelder played a key role in the transformation of New T1, serving as landside development bridge designer and civil engineering lead, geotechnical engineer, and sustainability lead for this $3.4-billion alternative delivery project. New Terminal 1 (New T1) officially opened on September 22, 2025, with the first flights and passengers welcomed the following day.
Helping Communities Heal from the Los Angeles Wildfires
To support recovery efforts, Kleinfelder’s Southern California Area (SoCal Area) — spearheaded by Area Business Manager Crystal Duran — identified two charitable organizations making a significant impact: the American Red Cross and Best Friends Animal Society. Through these coordinated efforts, Kleinfelder donated nearly $8,200, along with fostering displaced pets and donating blankets and clothing.
CWEA San Diego Recognizes Kleinfelder Project with Engineering Achievement Award
Kleinfelder provided multidisciplinary water and infrastructure engineering design services for the chlorine contact tank to optimize disinfection performance. The improvements increased tertiary treatment capacity from 5.0 to 6.5 million gallons per day, supporting California Title 22 regulatory compliance and long‑term recycled water reliability.
