Southern Current Solar Program, NC & SC

  • Southern Current Solar Program, NC & SC

Applying industry expertise on this solar photovoltaic (PV) project, Kleinfelder reviewed the Small Generation Interconnection Agreement (SGIA), extracted the technical requirements established by Southern California Edison, and developed the protective relaying scheme for the projects.

Kleinfelder has supported Southern Current, a South Carolina based solar developer, since 2016 with solar energy infrastructure development and deployment. Named the fastest growing company in South Carolina in 2018, Southern Current has completed multiple large-scale projects throughout the Carolinas totaling more than 500 MW of solar electric capacity.

With Southern Current’s utility scale development experiencing unprecedented growth, Kleinfelder has played a key role in helping meet growing development demands by providing civil engineering design (site planning, erosion control design, and stormwater management) and permitting services (State Environmental permits, Department of Transportation, etc.) for over 30 projects, ranging in size from 2MW – 20 MW, in North and South Carolina. To further support our client, Kleinfelder placed a semi-seconded employee in Southern Current’s office for six months in 2018 to serve as an on-site civil design consultant and coordinator at their headquarters in Charleston.

Kleinfelder’s continued partnership with Southern Current is a result of our strong commitment to providing innovative technical solutions that achieve development goals as well as advance sustainability initiatives.
