PFAS Removal from Groundwater with Ion Exchange: Validating Prediction of Pilot- and Full-Scale Performance with Bench-Scale Tests

IX’s smaller footprint is an advantage over GAC for PFAS removal. While bench-scale tests are commonly used for predicting GAC performance, there is limited information on their ability to predict IX performance. We compared resin depths and sizes validating the Constant Diffusivity design assumption for RSSCTs. RSSCTs and equilibrium isotherms results were compared to field-scale data for two pilot- and full-scale systems. Data show that RSSCT and isotherm data with surface pore diffusion modeling reliably predicts performance for IX media.

Bois d'Arc Lake Receives National ACEC Award
Bois d’Arc Lake, located in Texas, initially provided 70 million gallons of drinking water a day for North Texans. The main elements include a 2-mile-long, 90-foot-tall earthen dam and 16,641-acre reservoir; and a treatment plant and transmission systems that include two huge pump stations and 60 miles of pipelines.
Dr. Scott Grieco Joins Kleinfelder to Lead National PFAS Strategy
In this role, Dr. Grieco will drive strategic growth and technical delivery of PFAS (per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances) planning, design, and remediation services across U.S. markets, with a particular focus on the water and energy sectors. He will also lead the overall strategy and expansion of Kleinfelder’s PFAS business nationwide.
EPA Announces Final National Drinking Water Regulations
PFAS have emerged as a worldwide priority for human health and the environment. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced the Final National Primary Drinking Water Regulations for six PFAS, including guidance on monitoring, implementation, and further action.
Innovative 3D Scanning Technology in Project Delivery
Kleinfelder is leveraging 3D scanning and reality capture technologies to deliver more efficient, accurate, and collaborative project solutions. By integrating advanced tools like LiDAR and photogrammetry into its workflows, Kleinfelder brings real-world site conditions into the digital environment through the creation of digital twins.

Having worked with the Town for 15 years, Kleinfelder was quickly engaged to provide engineering services in design, permitting, and construction phase services for a new PFAS treatment facility.
San Diego Lead Service Line Inventory Program
Kleinfelder conducted field investigations and prepared an initial lead service line inventory of service line materials on the customer (private) side of the water meter, including all building types with a drinking water service
Wachusett Dam Reservoir Bastion Improvements
The dam underwent rehabilitation efforts to continue to reflect its early twentieth century grandeur of the City Beautiful movement and early progressive era for its 20,000 annual visitors.
