Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Kleinfelder's Spectrum
Kleinfelder promotes an inclusive workplace that respects and embraces diversity, equity, and inclusivity — which are essential to individual and Kleinfelder success.
Currently, we are amplifying existing efforts through Kleinfelder’s Spectrum Committee, a 12-person, self-nominated committee established to cultivate diversity, inclusivity, and equity within Kleinfelder through education, awareness, and promoting an inclusive culture.
Through ongoing, continuous communication and collaboration with the broader Kleinfelder community, the committee strives to enhance awareness and engagement to sustain a culture that recruits, develops, advances, and retains talent from all ranges of the people spectrum — and we understand this is an ongoing effort.
We are committed to equity in hiring.
Kleinfelder is an inclusive organization free from discrimination, and we believe that we are a stronger organization when we are a diverse workforce. Through diversity, equity, and inclusion comes creativity, innovation, and unity.
New Programs & Initiatives
We have recently launched new programs that foster diversity, equity, and inclusion, such as SkillBridge, which focuses on veteran employment, and Milk Stork, which helps meet the needs of our working mothers with infants.

Employees, Clients, Community
Employees
At Kleinfelder, we’re committed to creating equal opportunities and career advancement and development for all employees. Our goal is to foster an inclusive workplace that respects and embraces diversity. We strongly believe education and knowledge are foundational skills we all need to be effective allies, and we provide trainings such as Unconscious Bias in the Workplace to all employees. We are committed to ensuring our hiring process is free from bias, and we offer an excellent compensation and benefits package.
Clients
Diversity and inclusion are important not only to us, but to our clients. Unconscious bias and a lack of diverse candidates presents barriers to greater inclusion within the AEC industry. We recognize that our clients share similar values and want to know how we are making positive changes at Kleinfelder. Through internal education and training, we are supporting our hiring team to recognize unconscious bias, and we seek partnerships with diverse suppliers.
Community
Mirroring our values of safety, teamwork, accountability, integrity, and respect, Kleinfelder’s commitment to diversity and inclusion extends beyond our firm and into the industry and our communities. We proactively partner with minority- women-, and veteran-owned businesses, as well as historically underutilized and small businesses. We participate in programs that provide guidance and mentorship to small and disadvantaged businesses to foster their success and continued involvement in the industry. Our staff are dedicated to promoting STEM to younger people, too, and frequently participate in career fairs, educational programs, and student competitions, and many make themselves available to students who wish to shadow their work.
Supplier Diversity Program
Use of diverse vendors and suppliers is an important element to demonstrate our culture of inclusion and diversity within Kleinfelder. It is also great for our business – studies have shown that increased use of diverse suppliers increases competition (value for our clients), increases innovation and creativity, and improves our corporate reputation.
Kleinfelder promotes business partnerships with diverse suppliers which include, but are not limited to:
