UTILITY LOCATE SERVICES – DELMARVA
Kleinfelder has provided damage prevention, utility locates, and asset management to several large utility providers in the Delmarva and Ohio areas since 2015. During this time, our utility locates staff have dedicated the time and experience needed to make certain that their efforts and quality of product not only meets Kleinfelder’s expectations, but have exceeded our clients’ expectations. Focused on quality and safety, the Kleinfelder team has become an elite utility locating and designation firm – being recognized at the annual Miss Utility of Delmarva Damage Prevention awards ceremony.
The Miss Utility of Delmarva Damage Prevention Committee established the Locator Achievement Awards program to recognize locators who have over 1,500 locates, zero at-fault damages and exemplify outstanding safety practices for an entire calendar year. For the past eight years, our locate staff have been awarded the Locators Achievement Award. Locators recognized by the Locator Achievement Award do their best to keep the public safe through their contributions to damage prevention by locating accurately and performing at the highest levels of safety in all elements of their profession.

Technology and Equipment
Underground utility locating devices (Radiodetection ViVax RTK Pro, 8200 with GPS and Ground Penetrating Radar) are used to locate conduits and cables which are subsequently marked out with paint or flags. To further improve accuracy and efficiency, the ViVax RTK Pro gathers survey-grade GPS Points that can be uploaded to any AutoCAD or MicroStation format. We also collect high resolution pictures at each location for future locate referencing. This aids damage investigations and disputes from contractors and clearly defines our mark-outs. Subsequently, if the locators recognize assets outside of the provided polygon limits, they coordinate with Kleinfelder’s Traffic Design and GIS groups to refine the existing polygon and upload to One Call Concepts.

Kleinfelder provides Chesapeake Utilities with supplemental utility locate services, handling after-hours emergencies, staff absences, and providing additional staff when there is a unexpected increase in the daily ticket workload.
Aspire Energy Utility Locates Program
Kleinfelder provides Aspire Energy with utility locate services across eastern Ohio. The estimated volume of tickets is more than 29,000 annually. Kleinfelder provided a staffing solution that focused on areas receiving the highest density of tickets.
