Kleinfelder is currently serving as the prime consultant on the City of San Diego’s Georgia Street Bridge Seismic Retrofit/Rehabilitation project. This project includes the retrofit analysis, rehabilitation, and replacement studies of this 1914 historic arch bridge and adjacent retaining walls.
Kleinfelder completed two major reports for the project team that addressed the seismic retrofit and the long-term bridge and wall rehabilitation needs. Both reports were approved by Caltrans District 11 and Structures Local Assistance. The City also gained full federal funding eligibility for the bridge and approach retaining walls, while achieving community acceptance through numerous public meetings and formal environmental documentation.
