Two of our Toledo team members, Frank Harris, Construction Inspector, and Benjamin Black, Project Administrator, recently participated in the Flag City Honor Flight. Honor Flight is a nationwide program dedicated to honoring the service and sacrifices of our nation’s veterans by providing trips to Washington, D.C., where they can visit the memorials built in their honor.
During the November Flag City Honor Flight, 82 veterans from Northwest Ohio traveled to the nation’s capital, including 77 Vietnam War veterans and five Korean War veterans.
Frank is a career Army veteran who served for 28 years from 1960 to 1988 during the Vietnam War era. His service included two tours in Vietnam, two tours in Alaska, and additional assignments across the United States, ultimately reaching the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Much of his military career involved flying small aircraft, and later he served on the inspector general staff.
Benjamin served as Frank’s guardian for the trip, providing support and companionship throughout the day to help ensure a meaningful experience. Reflecting on the visit, Benjamin shared,“It was a humbling experience to hear the stories and watch the veterans visit the memorials. Frank had not been to Washington, D.C., in more than forty years, before many of these memorials were built.”
Frank’s service and Benjamin’s support reflect Kleinfelder’s core values of service and respect. We thank Frank for his service to our country and Benjamin for helping make this experience possible, and we extend our appreciation to all veterans who have served.
