Ohio Area Architecture Team Enhances Penta Career Center

Kleinfelder’s Ohio Area Architecture Team is playing a pivotal role in enhancing the educational environment at Penta Career Center, a public vocational high school in Northwest Ohio. Serving over 1,300 students from 16 different school districts, Penta provides career-technical education to students in grades 10-12. The school selected Kleinfelder to lead four capital improvement projects aimed at upgrading and expanding its facilities. These projects are key to supporting Penta’s mission of delivering top-tier vocational training to its diverse student body.

Remodeled Cosmetology Labs

One of the recently completed projects is the renovation of the Cosmetology Labs. The Kleinfelder team delivered comprehensive architectural and engineering design services to transform the labs into state-of-the-art facilities. The remodeled labs now feature a contemporary design, upgraded furniture, new flooring, improved lighting, and an advanced exhaust system. The successful completion of this project was celebrated with an open house event attended by students and their families, showcasing the positive impact of the renovations.

New E-mobility Lab

Kleinfelder staff recently attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the new E-Mobility Center at Penta Career Center. The new 15,135-square-foot E-Mobility Lab, designed by Kleinfelder’s Ohio Area Architecture Team, will be a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to training students in the fields of electric vehicle technology and energy systems.

The new lab will feature multiple labs and flexible classrooms, allowing Penta Career Center, a public vocational high school in Northwest Ohio, to address current and future technological advancements in electric vehicles, drones, and equipment. This facility is designed to provide students with hands-on experience in emerging industries, preparing them for the workforce of tomorrow.

Lt. Gov. Jon Husted, who leads the Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation, spoke at the event, emphasizing the importance of workforce development in Ohio. Congressman Bob Latta, along with other local and regional dignitaries, also attended to mark the significance of this milestone.

Sonny Hamizadeh, Kleinfelder’s Architectural Department Manager for the E-Mobility Center, expressed his pride in the project, stating, “We are honored to have been a part of the groundbreaking ceremony, and I’m proud of our team’s work on this facility. We worked closely with Penta to ensure that the design meets the highest standards of functionality and educational excellence. Our goal was to create a space that inspires innovation and fosters collaboration. We are excited to see this design come to life and support the next generation of skilled professionals.

We want to thank Mr. Ed Ewers, Superintendent; Mr. Mike Harrigan, CFO; and Mr. Kevin Baker, Facilities Director at Penta, for the opportunity to be part of this remarkable project.”

Renovated Building in Springfield Township

In addition to the work at Penta’s main campus, Kleinfelder is also responsible for the design of a new Penta campus located in Springfield Township. This renovated 16,000-square-foot building will house both high school and adult education programs. The new Holland-Springfield campus will offer flexible lab space, traditional classrooms, and administrative offices. The project is on track for completion this fall, further extending Penta’s reach and resources.
