Ohio Planning Team Secures $3.1M in Funding for CHIP Programs

Kleinfelder’s Ohio Planning Team successfully secured $3.1 million in grant funding under the Ohio Program Year 2023 Community Housing Impact & Preservation (CHIP) Program.

Partnering with local government entities — including the Cities of Amherst, Sheffield Lake, North Ridgeville, and Oberlin — resulted in the team receiving a substantial sum of $1.6 million for the Lorain County CHIP.  Additionally, the partnerships of Medina County/City of Wadsworth and City of Sidney/Shelby County led each partnership to receive maximum allocations of $750,000.

This achievement reflects the Ohio Planning Team’s expertise in navigating grant applications and securing crucial funding for Ohio communities. The team boasts an impressive track record in the CHIP arena, having maintained a 100% success rate in obtaining funding for over two decades, and spanning back to 1993. This track record persists with Program Year 2023, further solidifying the team’s proficiency in this domain.

CHIP Programs provide vital assistance to low-moderate income (LMI) homeowners for the rehabilitation and repair of their primary residences throughout the two-year grant period. Kleinfelder’s pivotal role encompassed not only crafting and submitting the grant applications but also extends to program administration upon funding. This involves crucial functions such as intake processing, inspection, spec-writing, and construction management. The latter includes overseeing third-party contractors responsible for executing the construction, rehabilitation, and repair work in collaboration with the homeowners.

The success of this endeavor is attributed to the collective efforts of the Ohio Planning Team, notably recognizing the contributions of Brandi CowellGayle FlaczynskiPaul TecpanecatlJames Good, and Ted Gawronski. Their dedication and expertise were pivotal in securing these grants, ensuring vital housing assistance for communities across Ohio.
