An Act of Inclusion & Stellar Qualifications Land Pratima Gatehouse on DBIA’s DE&I Committee

As a DBIA Board Member, Bill Hasbrook encouraged Pratima to pursue the DE&I committee position, increasing representation from Kleinfelder.

The Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA), in addition to providing best practices for Alternative Delivery, has taken a bold approach to DE&I.  Overall, their approach is “less talk, more action,” which is perfectly embodied by one of their board members, our own Bill Hasbrook.

As a DBIA Fellow and national board member, Bill had the opportunity to participate in  the newly created national DE&I committee for DBIA.  Instead of accepting the position, he reached out to another Kleinfelder DBIA professional, Pratima Gatehouse, to suggest she apply for the position.  With a little encouragement from Bill, Pratima applied, and her enthusiasm landed her the position of vice-chair of the DE&I committee.  In addition to serving on the committee, Pratima also participated at the National DBIA Water/Wastewater and Transportation/Aviation conferences, closing the DE&I panel discussion.

“I’m very grateful for Bill’s advice and encouragement which allowed me to grow in two passion areas, alternative delivery and DE&I,” Pratima commented. “Bill’s actions led to greater representation of our firm as well as greater diversity in the growing alternative delivery space.”

Congratulations to Pratima on her appointment to the DBIA DE&I Committee, and kudos to Bill for fostering diversity and inclusion within our company and the industry!
