Topsail Island-wide Coastal Resiliency Project

Kleinfelder Project Manager Michael Hicks

Earlier this year, the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Coastal Management had selected Kleinfelder to perform a Phase I Community Engagement & Risk/Vulnerability Assessment and a Phase II Planning, Project Identification, and Prioritization Assessment for the Surf City, Topsail Beach, and North Topsail Beach communities in North Carolina.

We’re pleased to share this StoryMap, which serves as the project website as well as an interactive learning tool. Check it out to learn more about this project, explore maps and project-related data, share information and experiences, participate in future surveys, and leave comments or recommendations.

Public Open House

Additionally, Kleinfelder will be helping to host a discussion on the future of Climate Change and Resiliency in the Topsail Island communities.  In conjunction with the Topsail Island NC-RCCP Program, there will be a Public Open House on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at 7pm EST.

The Public Open House will be held at the Surf City Town Hall, located at 214 W. Florence Way, Hampstead, NC 28443 and is an opportunity for everyone to bring their concerns, feedback, and ideas to be part of the planning process. Representatives from Kleinfelder and the Topsail Island NC-RCCP Community Action Team (CAT) for this program are seeking public comments to assist with the Risk/Vulnerability Assessment and Project Planning Portfolio with the Topsail Island NC-RCCP Program.

For those who wish to participate but are not available to attend in person, there will be a Teams virtual meeting, which can be accessed using this link.
