Career Journey: Spotlight on Tyler Turcotte
“I’ve been branching out a bit and enjoying getting out to see some of the work being done, which really helps to better understand the design side of it.”
Tyler Turcotte is a Bridge Engineer in our Augusta, Maine office, and says that his favorite part of the job is getting to learn more with every new task he’s faced with. And he’s about to face a lot of new tasks.
Although Tyler, who joined Kleinfelder in 2017 after graduating from University of Maine Orono, is based in Maine and primarily works on bridge design projects for the Northeast – supporting such clients as Maine Department of Transportation and various New Hampshire municipalities – he’ll soon be working on a major terminal replacement project at the San Diego International Airport, supporting Kleinfelder’s Southern California Bridge group.
Kleinfelder Principal Bridge Engineer Keith Gazaway, in our San Diego office, says the work at the airport is a major design-build project that started last month, and Tyler’s support will be a huge help to the team.
“We’ve worked with Tyler before on several small bridge projects over the past few years,” Keith says, “and we’re looking forward to having him on this team full-time for most of 2021.”
Tyler says he’s looking forward to having more involvement on a traditional bridge project, especially one of this scale.
“There are definitely some challenges when getting involved in lots of new tasks or learning a new program or process,” Tyler says. “It can take longer and sometimes you feel a little lost when doing something new for the first time, but with help from this team, I come out of it knowing more and feeling more capable.
“I’m certain I’ll learn a lot, which is exciting.”
