Kleinfelder’s Public Relations Team Recognized with Four CAPIO Awards

ORANGE COUNTY, California – At the 2019 California Association of Public Information Officials (CAPIO) Annual Conference, Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA), Orange County Public Works (OCPW), and the Kleinfelder Construction Services Public Relations Division were recognized with four communications awards given for some of the most cutting-edge work produced by public agencies in 2018.

As the Prime Public Outreach consultant for the I-405 Improvement Project and OCPW’s $1.5M On-Call Public Relations contract, the Kleinfelder Construction Services Public Relations team worked tirelessly on these award-winning deliverables:

The CAPIO EPIC Award (garnering a perfect score) in the Graphic Design category was awarded for the Construction Safety Coloring and Activity Book. The activity books are distributed in city halls, schools, libraries, and various community events throughout the corridor. View the book here: http://bit.ly/405ColoringBook

The CAPIO Award of Distinction in the Special or Community Event category was awarded for the Groundbreaking Event. The event garnered $25,000 in earned media, and the KCS Public Relations raised more than $35,000 in sponsorships to offset the cost of the event.

The CAPIO Award of Distinction in the Most Innovative category was awarded for the Interactive Map/Waze Integration. The KCS Public Relations team worked collaboratively with Kleinfelder’s top notch GIS team to develop an innovative Story Map and an exclusive Waze data feed to provide motorists near-real-time closure and actionable detour information. The CAPIO Award of Distinction in the Preparedness/Public Safety Education Campaign category was also awarded for OCPW’s Wall Murals. Kleinfelder’s team designed large scale murals throughout the Civic Center campus to build awareness and excitement within the agency of the successes and contributions from each service area.
