Mike Ivy is a Civil Engineer from our Raleigh, NC office. When Mike joined Kleinfelder seven years ago, he was exposed to many different types of projects for transportation, energy/solar, industrial, commercial, and municipal clients.  When Mike was assigned to a mining project in NC, he jumped in with both feet, demonstrating an aptitude and interest for the work.  Now Mike serves as an engineering design lead within Kleinfelder’s mining program, supporting mining clients in Tennessee, California, and Florida, with project work focusing on the clients’ active quarries (limestone and sand), making improvements to the current volumetric models, and generating ultimate life pit models for plant managers to enhance their overall day to day operations and delivery.

As an engineering design lead within Kleinfelder’s mining program, Mike is responsible for understanding each plant operators’ needs to better serve their business; mentoring junior staff to teach pit modeling and grading techniques; and managing active projects’ scope, schedule, and budget. “The most interesting part of mining work to me is the 3D modeling, designing haul roads down hundreds of feet into the ground using AutoCAD Civil 3D techniques, and the unique/niche work that it offers,” said Mike.

Lindsay Stephenson, an Air Quality and Environmental Compliance Engineer from our Raleigh, NC office, is currently supporting an industrial client in Richmond, Virginia with developing a comprehensive compliance system for new hazardous waste storage and disposal regulations.  Lindsay is responsible for assessing the client’s current hazardous waste practices, developing a robust compliance system to manage hazardous waste, and training laboratory personnel on new regulations and requirements.

In addition to her strong background in environmental compliance and hazardous waste regulations, Lindsay was given the opportunity to lead this project because of her desire to diversify her project experience and broaden her state-specific regulatory knowledge. “By working in different locations within the United States, I am able to meet new people, work on a greater variety of projects and expand my knowledge of state-specific environmental regulations,” explained Lindsay. The project in Richmond allows Lindsay to collaborate with a wide range of professionals including state regulators, environmental engineers and laboratory technicians.  “I enjoy the challenge of gathering information from all invested parties in order to create a sustainable compliance system,” said Lindsay.
