Romeo Firme Joins Kleinfelder as Principal Bridge Engineer

ORANGE COUNTY, California—Kleinfelder is pleased to announce the addition of Romeo Firme, PE as Principal Bridge Engineer for the firm’s Los Angeles and Orange County offices. As Principal Bridge Engineer, Firme will manage the bridge group in Kleinfelder’s Orange County office, focusing on client services and business development, and providing design and structural support to Kleinfelder clients throughout the Los Angeles/Orange County/Inland Empire area.

Firme has 31 years of diversified experience in transportation design, construction, management, and business development. As a leader in the transportation industry, he has overseen numerous large projects, including the Golden Gate Seismic Retrofit design and the design and construction of five new inbound and outbound ramps that were part of San Francisco International Airport’s $2.5 billion expansion program.

Having served in leadership positions for private firms, Caltrans, and as a business owner of a consultant firm, Firme has vast experience and expertise in management and engineering performance, especially in the transportation market. He has managed over 100 bridge and structural design projects involving highways, rail, airports, ports, and water and land development. This experience includes overseeing the design and construction of the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) Second-Level Roadway Rehabilitation, a $38 million project that rehabilitated 11 bridges at LAX and was named the 2016 California Transportation Foundation project of the year for aviation projects. Other notable Southern California transportation experience includes the northbound widening of SR-57 (Orangethrope to Yorba Linda), the westbound widening of SR-91 (SR57 to I5), the West County Connector, and the SR-91 PR/ED (SR241 to Pierce St).

Firme is a registered professional engineer in California and holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of the Philippines and a Master of Science in Structural Engineering from Calpoly Pomona.
