Kleinfelder’s Houston-Fuqua Laboratory Achieves AASHTO Accreditation for Soils Testing

We’re excited to announce that Kleinfelder’s Houston-Fuqua laboratory has achieved accreditation from the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) for soils testing. This milestone reflects Kleinfelder’s continued investment in quality, consistency, and technical excellence across our Construction Materials Engineering and Testing (CoMET) services.

AASHTO accreditation confirms that the Houston-Fuqua laboratory meets nationally recognized standards for equipment, procedures, personnel qualifications, and quality management systems. It provides clients and project partners with confidence that soils testing results are accurate, reliable, and produced in accordance with established industry requirements.

For Kleinfelder’s projects, this accreditation strengthens our ability to support transportation, infrastructure, and development programs that require AASHTO-compliant testing. It also enhances efficiency by allowing accredited testing to be performed in-house, supporting streamlined schedules, reduced risk, and consistent quality control throughout the project lifecycle.

With AASHTO-accredited soils testing capabilities, Kleinfelder is better positioned to help clients meet regulatory requirements, improve constructability, and make informed decisions based on dependable data.

“This accreditation further reinforces Kleinfelder’s commitment to delivering trusted technical solutions that support safe, resilient, and sustainable infrastructure,” said Thomas Dunnam, Houston CoMET Leader. “This milestone would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of the team involved in preparing the laboratory for accreditation.”

Special thanks to Angelita Tand, who performed many tests during the audit, our technicians in the field who keep our standard of testing high every day (including Daniel Stevenson and Fadi Alhaddadeen), and to Chris Pollack, Kelly Daniel, and Ryan Manning for providing leadership support.
