Kleinfelder’s GTS Area Receives NSC Million Work Hours Award
The National Safety Council (NSC) has recognized Kleinfelder’s GTS Area with its Million Work Hours Award, honoring the team for achieving more than one million consecutive work hours without a single occupational injury or illness resulting in lost time.
The NSC’s Million Work Hours Award sets a high bar. To qualify, an organization must log at least one million continuous hours with zero lost-time incidents, making the GTS Area’s achievement especially significant.
“This award is a testament to our team’s strong safety culture and their unwavering commitment to safety,” said Area Manager Colin Silla. “It reflects their hard work and dedication to following safety protocols and looking out for one another every single day.”
The recognition goes beyond accident prevention. The NSC designed the award to spotlight organizations that don’t just meet safety requirements, but create cultures where protecting people is part of every decision.
For the GTS Area team, reaching this milestone represents countless safety meetings, thorough training, hazard identification, and a shared commitment to making sure everyone goes home safe each day. Because the hours had to be consecutive, this wasn’t a one-time success but proof of consistent, long-term focus.
Reflecting on the achievement, Silla said, “Congratulations to the entire GTS Area team on this impressive milestone. Your collective commitment and hard work are what make achievements like this possible.”
Kleinfelder’s Sal Trejo, Health & Safety Manager, plays a key role in making sure that safety is at the forefront of the GTS Area’s operations. Through his leadership and proactive approach, the team has the resources, training, and support necessary to maintain a safe work environment. Trejo’s commitment to safety goes beyond compliance; he fosters an atmosphere where everyone feels empowered to speak up, look out for each other, and make safety-driven decisions.
