Kleinfelder Ranks 20th on Trenchless Technology’s 2022 Top 50 Engineering Firms List
SAN DIEGO, California (December 7, 2022) – With the recent announcement of Trenchless Technology’s 2022 Top 50 Engineering Firms, Kleinfelder celebrates ranking among the top 20 firms in North America. Having ranked #30 in 2020, Kleinfelder’s move to #20 is a substantial increase in just two years and a noteworthy achievement considering an increasing number of AEC firms are getting involved in the trenchless market.
Now in its 27th year, Trenchless Technology’s Top 50 ranking is aimed at providing insight on the strength of the market and a snapshot of the work completed by top trenchless engineering firms. Rankings are based on reported net revenue from trenchless projects relative to total company revenue. The survey also accounts for the number of employees specializing in trenchless design and the number and type of trenchless projects completed in the past year. With reported net revenue just over $23.3M in calendar year 2021, Kleinfelder achieved a 36% increase from the previous year – a significant growth trend the firm plans to sustain.
Kleinfelder’s growing reputation as a top provider of trenchless services is attributed to an effective growth strategy which focuses on market diversification, comprehensive training and development programs for employees, and commitment to delivering creative and cost-effective solutions that mitigate risk and reduce impacts to the environment, community, and surrounding infrastructure. Led by professionals who are regarded as leaders within the trenchless industry – Dennis Doherty, who was inducted into the NASTT Hall of Fame in 2022, Ken Sorensen, who has led Kleinfelder’s trenchless practice since 2004, and Matthew Lockwood, who specializes in geotechnical aspects of trenchless design – Kleinfelder’s trenchless practice operates throughout North America, serving clients in the oil/gas, power, water/wastewater, and telecommunications markets.
“It’s exciting to see Kleinfelder’s continued advancement in the trenchless market,” commented Kleinfelder Senior Principal Professional Dennis Doherty. “By remaining committed to pursuing challenging, high-profile projects, training and advancing the skills of our employees, and delivering the best technical solutions, we will continue to strengthen Kleinfelder’s reputation as a top trenchless provider. We can only grow from here!”
