Kleinfelder’s Joseph Sivadon, a Senior Special Inspector based in Sacramento, California, with more than 14 years of industry experience, has been honored with the American Welding Society (AWS) Sacramento Valley Section Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) of the Year Award for 2024. The award recognizes Certified Welding Inspectors who demonstrate excellence in welding inspection and uphold the highest standards of technical proficiency and professionalism.

Sivadon is a multi-certified inspector with credentials that include AWS CWI and ICC certifications in steel, concrete, fireproofing, and masonry. He currently serves as the Lead Inspector on Sacramento International Airport’s pedestrian walkway project. Structural steel framing has required rigorous oversight, and Sivadon’s leadership has played a key role in maintaining quality and safety throughout construction.

Award candidates for the CWI of the Year distinction are evaluated on a broad set of criteria that include technical proficiency, contributions to the welding community, and a strong record of ethical conduct. Sivadon’s commitment in each of these areas is demonstrated through his work and involvement within the welding inspection profession.

During his acceptance speech, Sivadon addressed an audience of students and industry professionals. He shared his career journey, describing how he advanced from entry-level skills to a highly skilled welder and ultimately to a Senior Special Inspector. He encouraged students to pursue their goals with determination and emphasized that meaningful careers are built through persistence, learning, and a willingness to grow.

As he shared in his remarks, Sivadon’s journey is rooted in persistence and professional growth, and this recognition reflects the impact of that commitment on both his work and the broader welding inspection community.
