Kleinfelder prepared the preliminary engineering assessment report and final design documents for the 5 MG GST rehabilitation that included recommendations associated with the interior and exterior coating systems, site improvement, tank structural members repair and replacement, and safety and security upgrades.

This highly complex, 4.5-year construction project met all major milestones on schedule and completed the last stages of startup in January 2021 – all with zero unplanned outages of service to over 600,000 customers in northern San Diego.

The team successfully designed a station that will serve the city for many years.

The treatment system was designed to meet water quantity and quality requirements for the client with no interruption in the manufacturing process. To achieve this, Kleinfelder designed a system that treated the water using a reverse osmosis (RO) membrane system to achieve the required lower dissolved solids levels.
