Kleinfelder Construction Services (KCS) has been selected by Padre Dam Municipal Water District (Padre Dam) for the significant $15 million, 2-year Blossom Valley Reservoir Replacement Project. Recognizing the need to modernize infrastructure built in the 1960s, Padre Dam has entrusted KCS to lead the replacement of the existing Blossom Valley Reservoir and its associated pipeline.

As prime consultant on this $1.9 million contract, KCS will oversee the replacement of the current potable water storage tank with a new, modern 3.25-million-gallon circular pre-stressed concrete tank, along with the pipeline that serves it. Padre Dam currently services over 100,000 residents in the East San Diego County communities of Santee, El Cajon, Lakeside, Flinn Springs, Harbison Canyon, Blossom Valley, Alpine, Dehesa and Crest. The Blossom Valley Reservoir project is a key component of their ongoing efforts to provide quality drinking water, recycled water, park and recreational facilities, and wastewater management services.

“This is a vital project for the Blossom Valley community, and Kleinfelder Construction Services is honored to partner with Padre Dam Municipal Water District to deliver these essential upgrades,” commented Project Manager/Resident Engineer Greg Gomez, PE, QSP. “Our team is committed to employing our expertise and collaborative approach to ensure the successful and efficient completion of this project, ultimately enhancing the reliability and quality of water service for residents and businesses.”

Minimizing Community Impact: A Core Project Value

The KCS Public Relations team, led by Anna Finlay, Public Outreach Manager and Jocelyn Angulo, Public Outreach Liaison, is committed to minimizing community impacts over the life of the project. Situated in multiple locations within Blossom Valley, the existing facilities serve numerous residential and commercial customers who heavily depend on the water infrastructure that is largely obsolete and in need of replacement. Recognizing the potential for temporary disruptions such as increased traffic, noise pollution, and water shut offs, our team is prioritizing proactive communication through increased project awareness prior to construction and regular notification once construction activity begins.

KCS and Padre Dam: A Strong Partnership for Blossom Valley

KCS is enthusiastic about embarking on this significant project, and this win underscores their established expertise in effectively managing complex water infrastructure projects, further strengthening their valued partnership with Padre Dam.
