Kleinfelder Construction Services’ Public Relations Team recently took home several industry awards for their work on Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA)’s I-405 Improvement Project and Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District (EVMWD)’s Septic to Sewer Conversion Project.

OCPRSA PROTOS Awards:

The Orange County Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (OCPRSA) PROTO Awards honors Orange County’s top public relations professionals, programs, and campaigns. 

• Category: Special Events // Submission Award: 405 Dedication Event
  • The Team won a PROTOS Award for the 405 Dedication Event, which was planned over the course of several months in close collaboration with multiple departments at OCTA to commemorate the completion of all major construction for the $2.16 billion Project as well as the opening of the 405 Express Lanes and was attended by close to 1,000 people.
• Category: Collateral Materials // Submission Award: Commemorative Booklet
  • The Team won a PROTOS award for its design and development of a 32-page Commemorative Booklet that was given to event attendees at the 405 Dedication Event and highlighted OCTA’s accomplishments in securing funding for and building of the project and to recognize the dedication of the Project team members and partners.
• Category: Collateral Materials // Submission Award: 405 Dedication Event Timeline
  • The team won a PROTOS award for its design and development of a 30-foot, detailed, project timeline banner that highlighted over 40 key milestones dating back to 2003 to visually showcase the sheer magnitude of the multi-phase Project to 405 Dedication Event attendees
• Category: Social Media Program // Submission Award: Project’s Social Media
  • The Team won a PROTOS award for its social media strategies completed during the final year of construction on the Project as closures, detours, and construction activities were scaled back.
• Category: Community Relations // Submission Award: Project’s Public Awareness Campaign
  • The Team won an Award of Excellence for its execution of a seven-year multiphase public awareness campaign in which the Team coordinated closely with various key stakeholders and included a variety of messaging that met the needs of the communities with varied cultural backgrounds, socioeconomic status, and languages spoken.

 PRSA-IE POLARIS Awards:

The Inland Empire Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America’s (PRSA) annual Polaris Awards recognize the very best in public relations tactics and programs that successfully incorporate sound research, planning, execution and evaluation.

• Category: Collateral – Brochure/Flyer // Submission Award: Commemorative Booklet
  • The Team won a POLARIS award for its design and development of a 32-page Commemorative Booklet that was given to event attendees at the 405 Dedication Event and highlighted OCTA’s accomplishments in securing funding for and building of the project and to recognize the dedication of the Project team members and partners.
• Category: Campaigns – Public Relations // Submission Award: Septic System Surveys
  • The Team won a POLARIS award for its development of communication strategies to inform and assist property owners and occupants as they prepared for septic system surveys, a crucial step in allowing the survey team to gain access to the property to locate septic systems and ascertain grinder pump requirements.

The team’s dedication to effective communication and community engagement was instrumental in the success of these complex projects. Their innovative strategies and creative solutions resulted in impactful campaigns that resonated with diverse audiences.
