San Diego Business Journal Women of Influence in Engineering 2024 List with headshotsSAN DIEGO, California (June 19, 2024) – Kleinfelder celebrates Janna Bonfiglio, San Diego Geotechnical Engineering Group Manager, on her recognition as a 2024 Woman of Influence in Engineering by the San Diego Business Journal (SDBJ). Janna is among 20 women selected for this year’s recognition.

The Women of Influence in Engineering program honors outstanding women who are shaping the engineering landscape across San Diego. By showcasing the careers and accomplishments of these trailblazers, SDBJ celebrates their dedication and the impact they have on the industry and their communities.

SDBJ recognized Janna’s leadership and expertise in geotechnical and seismic engineering, which have played a vital role in enhancing San Diego’s infrastructure and earthquake resilience. She has contributed to high-profile projects like the San Diego International Airport Terminal 1 Replacement, the Mid-Coast Corridor Trolley extension, and dam projects at Lake Hodges, El Capitan, and Lake Wolford.  She has also played a pivotal role in ensuring the structural integrity of numerous bridges throughout the region.  Furthermore, Janna’s leadership in fault studies has directly contributed to the seismic safety of Navy installations in earthquake-prone areas, strengthening the overall safety and security of the region.

Beyond her work at Kleinfelder, Janna promotes earthquake preparedness as the Vice President of the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute San Diego chapter. She notably contributed to the San Diego Earthquake Scenario, a report which aims to guide public and private development towards a more earthquake-resilient city.

In addition to her technical achievements, Janna’s leadership within Kleinfelder and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Geo-Institute has allowed her to mentor and foster the next generation of engineering talent. Her dedication to both her profession and community embodies the qualities celebrated by the SDBJ’s Women of Influence program.
