DENVER, Colorado (September 11, 2023) – The Kleinfelder Group, Inc. (Kleinfelder), a leading engineering, design, construction management, construction materials inspection and testing, and environmental professional services firm, has announced the appointment of Marcella Hartman, PG, CPG, in the role of Trenchless Technology Practice Leader. Hartman will spearhead the growth and development of Kleinfelder’s trenchless technology practice, bringing her extensive experience and leadership to the team.

With a career spanning over 15 years, including nine years dedicated to trenchless and tunneling projects, Hartman brings an array of skills and expertise that align perfectly with Kleinfelder’s strategic goals and industry demands. Her leadership prowess is evident from her successful track record of mentoring colleagues and employees at all levels, while her hands-on experience in fieldwork, construction oversight, and project management underscores her commitment to delivering high-quality results.

Commenting on her vision for Kleinfelder’s trenchless technology practice, Hartman shared, “I’d like to see Kleinfelder become one of the top firms recognized for high quality, constructible trenchless designs. In order to achieve this, I hope to bring consistency and standardization of our trenchless deliverables throughout the company, advanced training for interested individuals to expand their trenchless knowledge, and cohesive, approachable leadership for Kleinfelder’s trenchless team.”

An experienced leader, Hartman’s previous roles have involved managing a nationwide trenchless geotechnical practice focused on trenchless crossings for a variety of industries. She has provided oversight for geotechnical field work, site reconnaissance, and trenchless construction, while also developing standardized procedures, data collection methods, and analysis techniques. Her role in establishing a new geotechnical services line while at a previous company showcases her ability to initiate and drive strategic growth.

Hartman is licensed as a Professional Geologist and Certified Professional Geologist. She holds a master’s degree in geoengineering and a bachelor’s degree in geology. Partnering with the University of Minnesota Department of Civil, Environmental, and Geo-Engineering, Hartman has conducted extensive research related to asphalt pavement engineering and testing, as well as assisted with teaching courses.  She continues to actively contribute to the industry, presenting at conferences and publishing research and articles through North American Society of Trenchless Technology.
