Kleinfelder Providing Technical Services through NC Resilient Coastal Communities Program

Kleinfelder is proud to be one of nine organizations providing direct technical assistance services in risk assessment and resilience planning work through the NC Resilient Coastal Communities Program. The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality’s Division of Coastal Management has awarded over $1 million in grants to 15 North Carolina communities to develop resilience strategies and help local governments overcome barriers to coastal resilience and adaptation planning.

Specifically, Kleinfelder will be engaging communities, conducting risk and vulnerability assessments, and identifying and prioritizing projects to reduce the impacts of coastal hazards like flooding and storms for both the Town of Burgaw and the Town of Holly Ridge.

Kleinfelder has been deeply involved in planning efforts throughout several regions across eastern North Carolina, working with local stakeholders to identify vulnerabilities and provide recommended projects aligned with applicable funding sources to bolster climate resiliency.

“We are incredibly excited to provide our climate resiliency planning services to Burgaw and Holly Ridge through the second iteration of the NC Resilient Coastal Communities Program,” said Kleinfelder Climate Resilience Planner Julia Maron. “Our team worked with the three communities on Topsail Island, NC for the first version of this Program, and we look forward to continuing to develop this line of service along the East Coast.”
