Kirsten Ryan Elected Director-at-Large of NEWWA, Honored with Dexter Brackett Memorial Award

BOSTON, Mass. – Kleinfelder Senior Project Manager and Hydrogeologist Kirsten N. Ryan, PG, of Boston, MA, has been elected Director-at-Large of the New England Water Works Association (NEWWA), the region’s largest and oldest not-for-profit organization of water works professionals.

Ryan has extensive and diverse experience managing water planning and infrastructure capital improvements of all types. She helps public water suppliers to understand current and upcoming regulatory compliance pressures -and funding opportunities- which may impact them.

As an active member of NEWWA for nearly 20 years, Ryan has been a member of the Groundwater Committee, Water Resources Committee, Legislative and Regulatory Affairs Committee, and the Program Committee.

Ryan also recently received the 2022 Dexter Brackett Memorial Award from NEWWA. The Dexter Brackett Memorial Award was established in 1916 in honor of an early prominent member of NEWWA. The award is presented annually to the member of the association who authored the most meritorious paper published in the Journal of the New England Water Works Association during the previous year.

Ryan received this award for her paper “PFAS and Public Outreach: Risk Communication Best Practices and Lessons Learned,” which was published in the December 2021 issue of the Journal of the New England Water Works Association. She was recognized with the Dexter Brackett Memorial Award on September 19, 2022, during NEWWA’s 141st Annual Conference in Newport, RI.
