SAN DIEGO, California – Kleinfelder is pleased to announce that Vic Bianes has joined the firm in the role of Client Account Manager.  With specialized expertise in the water market and extensive experience working within the public sector, Bianes will focus on expanding Kleinfelder’s engineering and water infrastructure practice throughout Southern California.

Bianes has over 34 years of experience providing leadership for the planning, design, construction, and operations of water and transportation public works projects.  Most recently, Bianes served as the Director of the City of San Diego Public Utilities Department.  This involved management and administration of one of the most complex water storage, treatment, and delivery systems in the nation. Prior to his role in the Public Utilities Department, Bianes served as the Assistant Director for the City’s Transportation and Storm Water Department where he successfully led the operations of the Right of Way Coordination, Street, and Transportation Engineering Divisions.  Before his tenure at the City of San Diego, Bianes was the Engineering Manager at San Diego County Water Authority where he oversaw technical services for some of the largest water infrastructure projects in San Diego, including the San Vicente Dam Raise and Carlsbad Desalination Plant.

In addition to his many leadership and technical accomplishments, Bianes plays an active role in the industry, having served on numerous boards and commissions at the local and state levels.  He is currently an active member (and the past President) in the APWA San Diego Chapter and serves on the APWA National Board as Technical Director.  Bianes is a licensed Professional Engineer in California and holds an MBA from University of Redlands and a BSCE from San Diego State University.
