Kleinfelder Partners with Vulcan to Educate Elementary School Students about Earth Sciences and the Importance of Sand and Aggregate Materials
Mount Dora, FLORIDA – Several employees from Kleinfelder’s Mount Dora and Jacksonville, Florida offices assisted Vulcan Materials Company (Vulcan) with field trips for a total of over 200 elementary school students over four days. The field trip took place at the Vulcan Grandin Sand Mine in Melrose, Florida. The students were fourth and fifth graders from Browning Pearce Elementary school.
As part of the field trip, Vulcan employees gave the students a tour of the operations onsite. Kleinfelder employees helped the students with a variety of activities including sand art; digging for fossils from the relict beach dunes; and learning about the importance of sand and aggregate materials in everyday life.
