With more than 29 acute care hospitals and 5,000 primary care physicians, the Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento is the foundation of Sutter Health and Northern California’s largest health network. Kleinfelder’s exceptional range of engineering services provided Sutter the foundation required to meet its goal of enhancing the community’s health and well-being.
Sutter Medical Center consists of several facilities, including the Sutter General Hospital, the Anderson Lucchetti Women’s and Children’s Center, and the Sutter Medical Foundation (SMF) Building. All located in the heart of California’s bustling capital city, these Sutter facilities required a local expert who could skillfully navigate the surrounding historic area, community stakeholders, and tricky river-basin terrain.
Kleinfelder provided environmental site assessments, geotechnical engineering, and special inspection and testing services for the Sutter Medical Center development. Kleinfelder’s experienced team in Northern California conducted research to review and address environmental conditions, performed site investigation and testing, and collaborate closely with all concerned parties. Most critically, Kleinfelder’s thorough work on the SMF Energy Center—which supplies power, heating, and cooling to all Sutter buildings—assured reliable delivery of vital resources to the Sutter Medical Center complex.
Kleinfelder’s team of highly knowledgeable, highly capable project engineers and technicians ensured all buildings met Office of Statewide Planning and Development (OSHPD) requirements and proper California Building Code requirements—enabling a solid start to Sutter’s ongoing mission of providing world-class medical service to Northern California for years to come.
