Rancho Los Amigos is undergoing a $418 million major renovation, which will consolidate inpatient and outpatient services, and bring the facilities into full compliance with State SB1953. The project includes a new Wellness Center, new outpatient facilities, and a new inpatient expansion. Kleinfelder is serving as the Inspector of Record and Geotechnical Engineer of Record while providing both special inspection services and additional services in construction materials engineering and testing and hazardous materials abatement monitoring.
Being under a design-build contract, the project is extremely schedule driven with several moving parts. The schedule also requires a quick turnaround for completing geotechnical tasks that precede subsequent design work. In addition, the project has strict inspection requirements that demand the utmost attention to detail.
Kleinfelder has been able to resolve project challenges by managing the project and elements proactively. Providing a quick turnaround partly comes through the ability to anticipate client and/or design team needs—ensuring Kleinfelder is ready to deliver. Kleinfelder’s lead staff working on this project, such as the client account manager, project manager, and inspection team, maintain regular communication with their client counterparts to understand project needs which allows for a successful proactive approach. In addition to other Kleinfelder personnel involved in the project, they provide multi-disciplinary solutions which have been instrumental in driving efficiency.
Our one-stop-shop approach allowed the client to have a single point of contact to handle all the inspection and testing needs for this large project. This reduced the risk of mistakes, time, and cost as we assembled a custom team to deliver all the elements required.
