Procter & Gamble Distribution Center

  • Procter & Gamble Distribution Center

The construction of a new Procter & Gamble warehouse required full-time, on-site enginerering review, field testing and observation, and materials testing. Kleinfelder / Advantage Engineers performed the necessary geotechnical engineering, construction observation and testing services for the project from May 2013 to June 2014. The steel-frame, concrete tilt-up building is approximately 1.7M square feet.

Real-time Testing and Reporting

One of the challenges for a building of this size is getting the footprint properly graded and compacted so the foundation is sound. Kleinfelder / Advantage Engineers observed and tested compaction of structural fill and backfill materials for foundations, utilities, pavement subgrades, and other relevant areas. We provided review and testing of all asphalt and roller compacted concrete pavement construction. When the foundation was complete, we tested the Floor Flatness (FF) and Floor Levelness (FL). Kleinfelder / Advantage also conducted field testing and review of all cast-in-place concrete to ensure compliance with current ASTM and ACI standards. And we provided an ICC & AWS certified professional to observe and document all phases of the structural steel construction, including bolted steel connections, metal decking, and shear stud installation and field welds.
