Our client considered purchasing the project and hired Kleinfelder to perform independent technical review of project design drawings, specifications, and calculations, and to assess the project compliance with the interconnect agreement.

Project Sensitivity

Due to the sensitive nature of the project, it was a challenge to obtain the required project design data early in the review process. This was overcome once the owner set up a data room and gave Kleinfelder direct access.

Design Recommendations

Kleinfelder’s transmission and distribution experts offered our client the ideal resource for this independent review. Leveraging our team’s experience with designing substations and transmission lines for this particular client, we were able to quickly review the wind farm design documents and offer guidance on the differences between the project designs and the client’s requirements and design standards.

Project Results

After careful evaluation of project data, Kleinfelder authored and provided a summary report with review observations and technical concerns for the client’s consideration. The evaluation also included a listing of possible system upgrades or equipment replacements that the client might face in bringing the project up to its own design standards, enabling more cost-effective decision making.
