Kleinfelder was selected for the third consecutive time to serve as the prime consultant for the Caltrans District 11 On-Call Construction Management contract. Kleinfelder is currently augmenting the Caltrans District 11 Construction Division with 31 individuals. Our team has worked on more than 100 projects throughout Caltrans District 11, including the $110 million I-5/805 Merge Widening; the $270 million I-15 Managed Lanes (Units 1-5); the $139 million SR-125/54 Gap and Connector, the $32 million SR-7 project; and the I-5/Lomas Santa Fe Interchange and Auxiliary Lanes projects.
This contract requires proactive inspection of special provisions and plans well in advance of construction activities; coordination with the project contractor, inspection of the work at the earliest possible stages; and the capacity to look ahead for potential changes or conflicts when comparing field conditions to plan specifications.
Kleinfelder’s expert engineers and inspectors are executing a thorough review of all plan specifications and producing detailed documentation of the work in the form of daily diaries, quantity sheet, contract change orders, responses to Requests for Information, and letters to the contractor. Additionally, our team is very familiar with the project site(s) and challenges related to design-sequencing projects.
Kleinfelder is currently providing rapid response to challenging staffing and scheduling demands—staffing the projects with excellent field personnel specifically suited to the needs of any given project. During our yearly review with Caltrans management, Kleinfelder was informed that we were “setting the standard” that Caltrans expects from consultants.
