(RALEIGH, North Carolina) – Mark Koegel, an assistant project manager and task lead for Kleinfelder’s Raleigh, NC engineering design team, was awarded 2018 Engineer of the Year by the North Carolina Section of ASCE.
Mark was nominated for the award by one of Kleinfelder’s energy clients for his work on one of their natural gas transmission projects. The client commended Mark for exceeding their expectations and stated that “with his assistance the project continues to move forward and achieve significant milestones.” The client pointed to several examples meriting Mark’s nomination including his technical knowledge, high quality deliverables, positive attitude, leadership, readiness to assist when project issues arise and commitment to resolving the problem, and for going above and beyond to assist with stakeholder communication.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mark was recognized for being active in his local community, serving as an appointed member of the Durham City/Durham County Environmental Affairs Board, volunteering for the Ronald McDonald House, and participating in the planning and hosting of events to serve the local community of Durham.
Mark was recognized and presented with the North Carolina ASCE 2018 Engineer of the Year award during the Chapter’s awards luncheon on September 19th.
