Muhammad Musa, Ph.D., hired to lead regional transportation and infrastructure initiatives

SAN ANTONIO, Texas —  Kleinfelder, a global architecture, engineering and science consulting firm, is continuing to expand in the state of Texas with the opening of a new office in San Antonio — its seventh in the state — and the hiring of Muhammad, Musa, Ph.D., P.E., an industry veteran with 28 years of experience in the planning, analysis and design of various high-profile civil engineering projects throughout the globe.

“Texas has proven to be a very strong region for us in 2012, particularly in the areas of transportation, energy, water resources, and state and local government,” said Emad Al-Turk, vice president and Texas regional manager at Kleinfelder. “As the needs of our clients grow throughout the state, we are committed to increasing our talent pool and geographic presence to support those needs. That’s exactly what we’ve done in San Antonio.”

Muhammad Musa, Ph.D., P.E., senior professional
Hired as a senior professional in the new San Antonio office, Dr. Musa will initially lead the firm’s support services to the City of San Antonio’s Public Works and Capital Improvements Management Services (CIMS) departments on a diverse set of projects involving transportation, public works and water infrastructure. As Kleinfelder continues its growth in the metro area, Dr. Musa, along with other Kleinfelder leaders, will spearhead and oversee a variety of large-scale civil projects.

Dr. Musa has an impressive track record of successfully managing large-scale civil engineering projects, particularly in transportation. He is a recognized leader in traffic and transportation engineering, as well as signal system and intelligent transportation system (ITS) design and implementation. He is very active in the industry and is a current member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), American Public Works Association (APWA), Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) and the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC). He earned both his Ph.D. in civil engineering and Master of Science in civil engineering from the University of Cincinnati. He joins Kleinfelder having most recently spent two years with URS Corporation as a senior traffic engineer.

Momentum in Texas
Building on their over 50 year history in Texas, Kleinfelder has demonstrated a strong momentum of growth in the state, particularly in the past several years. With the January 2012 acquisition and successful integration of Corrigan Consulting Inc. — an 18-employee, Houston-based environmental planning and permitting firm — and the opening of the San Antonio office, the firm now offers support to Texas clients in seven offices throughout the state, including Austin, Corpus Christi, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Houston, McKinney, San Antonio and Waco.
