Steve Wendland Appointed to GBA Board of Directors

SAN DIEGO, California – Kleinfelder Senior Technical Manager Steve Wendland, PE, PG, DGE, has been appointed to the Geoprofessional Business Association (GBA) Board of Directors. As a non-profit organization dedicated to geoprofessionals, GBA seeks to help its members and their clients confront risk and optimize business performance by delivering unique professional resources, programs, and services that make them stronger, smarter, and more successful. As part of the Board of Directors, Wendland will help guide GBA in achieving its vision and strategic plan while ensuring the organization continues to be recognized as a leader in advancing the geoprofession and an essential business resource for geoprofessional firms.

“Kleinfelder has played an active role in GBA for decades. Our founder, Jim Kleinfelder, served as president of GBA (then ASFE) in the 1980s,” explained Wendland. “I’m proud to continue Kleinfelder’s strong legacy of involvement and leadership within this valuable organization.”

With more than 30 years of industry experience, Wendland has led geotechnical and geological engineering work for hundreds of public and private infrastructure projects throughout the United States and internationally. He has served as a company-wide resource within Kleinfelder, leading technical development and service line growth and providing oversight and guidance for some of the firm’s largest, high-profile projects. Committed to advancing the geoprofession, Wendland has been a GBA member since 2014. He served as the vice-chair of GBA’s Business Practices Committee for four years and recently completed a three-year term serving as chair of the ASCE/GBA Ethics Award Committee.

“Steve is a highly accomplished and well-respected professional within the industry. While actively advancing the geoprofession through involvement in industry organizations, he has held key leadership roles within Kleinfelder’s technical network and been instrumental to the growth of the firm’s geotechnical/geologic service line. His vast technical knowledge and dedication to the profession make him a true asset to GBA’s board,” commented Kleinfelder CEO and President Louis Armstrong.
