Shawn joins Kleinfelder’s Health & Safety Team as a Sr. Health & Safety Manager for Century Engineering
Kleinfelder’s Health & Safety team continues to grow with the addition of Shawn Kalwat, CSP, in the role of Sr. Health & Safety Manager for Century Engineering. Through collaboration with Kleinfelder’s Health & Safety team and Century leadership, Shawn will implement our health and safety program throughout Century offices, driving risk management to analyze and eliminate conditions contributing to occupational hazards.
With over 20 years of experience, Shawn has a strong background developing and administering environmental health & safety (EHS) programs, investigating and evaluating incidents, conducting safety audits, and implementing safety training programs. Having worked for both owners/clients and consulting firms, he has a deep understanding of the industry, including the risks and hazards our technical staff encounter at project sites as well as those posed to office-based staff.
“Shawn’s strong safety, health, and environmental compliance experience will be instrumental in sustaining and growing our safety culture through all levels of our organization. In addition to driving awareness and accountability for health & safety performance, Shawn will serve as a critical link between Century and Kleinfelder, enhancing collaboration, providing consistency, and fostering an ecosystem approach to safety,” said Kleinfelder Health & Safety Director Sally Miller.
Shawn holds an MS in Safety, Security, and Emergency Management from Eastern Kentucky University. He is certified through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and a Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST). Shawn will be based out of Century’s Hunt Valley, MD office.
