Projects Description:Kleinfelder was responsible for performing all activities associated with the installation of multiple deep regional wells to depths of 2,000 feet bgs to provide hydrogeology and groundwater quality data in order to achieve New Mexico Environment Department (NMED)-specific DQOs consistent with the Groundwater Protection Program for Los Alamos National Laboratory.

- Adherence to Contract Schedules: Kleinfelder was able to mobilize and implement a multiple drill rig program and installed not six, but eight deep regional groundwater monitoring wells before the Compliance Order deadline.
- Customer Satisfaction: Both DOE and USACE have expressed their satisfaction with Kleinfelder's overall performance, especially given the late NTP and fast-track schedule requirements. In fact, both DOE and USACE have stated that no other drilling operation performed in support of the LANL Groundwater Protection Program has been as effective with respect to teamwork and responsiveness as the Kleinfelder program.
- Cost Efficiency: Kleinfelder's performance resulted in significant cost savings for DOE, accelerated performance in support of the development of the Hydrogeologic Workplan, and ensured compliance with the negotiated Compliance Order between DOE/LANL and the NMED.
- Experience with Unique Technical Challenges: In this project Kleinfelder successfully performed the scope of service under a variety of difficult conditions presented by complex lithologies, remote locations, rugged terrain, inhospitable weather, awareness of working within high-explosive areas, the potential of radionuclide contamination, and regulatory and physical constraints imposed by sensitive archaeological and cultural areas, and threatened or endangered species.
