Project Description:Kleinfelder is working with a confidential client to evaluate the geotechnical and geologic aspects of a 100-acre site along the rugged, pacific coast of Northern Baja California, Mexico. The project involves on-shore and offshore structures, as well as access roads into the remote area.
Client Issues
- Geologic hazard evaluation for identification of active faults and landslides
- On-shore geotechnical evaluation
- Off-shore bathymetric survey
- Off-shore geotechnical evaluation
- Coordination with multiple US and Mexican subcontractors
- Working with both the US and Mexican Governments to obtain the proper work permits
- Completing the project on schedule
Kleinfelder's Role
Kleinfelder will work with multiple subcontractors to prepare the geotechnical report. The geologic and geotechnical investigation for the project will include:
- Landslide investigation along the coastal bluff
- Fault investigation in the seismically active region
- Sixteen (16) on-shore rock cores into fractured basalt to depths of up to 100 meters
- Six (6) rock rippability test pits
- Sixty (60) on-shore soil depth test pits
- Off-shore bathymetric survey in the surf and beach zone
- Fifteen (15) off-shore rock cores in the surf zone and near shore areas to depths of up to 50 meters.
