Grant Hill area of San Diego, California

Project Description:

The purpose of the study was to evaluate existing information and provide preliminary geologic and geotechnical considerations for each of the potential substation sites to assist in the selection of a suitable site location for future land acquisition and development. The general project area for Site 1 and Site 2 is the Grant Hill area of San Diego, California. Site 3 is located approximately 1 mile southwest of the other two sites and is located in the Logan Heights area of downtown San Diego.

Following completion of a geologic reconnaissance and analyses of the data obtained, a report was prepared presenting preliminary findings and conclusions; specifically those related to potential geologic and soils constraints and possible mitigative measures for the project sites. Geologic hazards evaluated included faulting, ground rupture, seismicity, liquefaction and seismic induced settlement, landsliding, expansive soil, unconsolidated soils, tsunamis and seiches, and flooding. Potential geologic hazards evaluated in this study include; seismic shaking, surface rupture, landslides, liquefaction, and seismically induced settlement.
