Kleinfelder serves our clients, our people, and our communities. Our collective desire to leave a lasting, positive influence has been woven into our business model through the creation of the Kleinfelder Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program, tailored to address our communities’ most pressing issues. With a focus on four essential pillars—disaster relief, diversity, sustainability, and volunteerism—Kleinfelder sets annual goals for contributing resources and delivering an impact where needed most.
- Kleinfelder Unites with Ronald McDonald House Charities to Drive Companywide Community Service
-
We expanded our companywide volunteer efforts with a three-year commitment to support Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), providing employees nationwide an opportunity to help others. As our second year wraps up, we achieved our goals once again of raising money, serving meals and donating over 20,000 tons of food to the local houses.
“It was a wonderful experience on so many levels for the Charlotte team,” said Linda Raby, Administrative Supervisor. “We worked together to provide an evening of respite to the many families staying at the Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte. Each of us thoroughly enjoyed the time spent at the House. We found interacting with one another across a kitchen counter, while prepping a meal, is a lot different than the typical interactions we have in the office. This was a true bonding experience for our team and we look forward to more events in the future.”
- Kleinfelder Supports Hurrican Sandy Disaster Relief Efforts
-
Our employees generously contributed over $2,000 to Hurrican Sandy disaster relief efforts, through the American Red Cross, with Kleinfelder providing a matching donation to honor employees’ spirit of giving. In addition, Kleinfelder staff donated 112 hours of paid time off to our Catastrophic and Natural Disaster Fund to aid those needing additional time away from work to recover from devastating life events.
- Kleinfelder Contributes to Engineers Without Borders
-
Kleinfelder employees have been participating in Engineers Without Borders-USA (EWB-USA) for years to help build a better world by improving infrastructure, the environment, and overall living conditions for people in developing countries. Daniel L. Harpstead, P.E., of our Exton, PA office, was elected to be President of EWB-USA for 2012. Dan was recently invited to give a presentation representing EWB-USA at a conference sponsored by Scientists and Engineers without Borders, an Asian engineering group based in Seoul, Korea where the conference took place.
- Kleinfelder Supports Women in Transportation Seminar
-
Kleinfelder supports the Boston Chapter of the Women’s Transportation Seminar – an international organization whose mission is to develop and advance women as leaders in transportation throughout the world.
The Boston Chapter has been actively involved in the growth of the transportation industry in Boston for over 30 years, and is regarded as the premier transportation organization in New England. It offers leadership training, mentoring, and educational scholarships as well as unparalleled access to top transportation leaders. Kleinfelder supports the Chapter both as a top level Corporate Partner and through the participation of Kleinfelder employees in the Chapter’s activities.
- Mentor Program Promotes Diversity
-
Kleinfelder’s Diversity Committee created a mentor program to provide employee-owners the opportunity to interact with senior staff to discuss all types of business-related topics, such as career goals and industry issues. Junior staff gain exposure to other departments, as well as senior leaders in the company, that they may not have access to in their day-to-day job functions. Educational courses are also available to all employees to learn more and understand the value of workplace diversity.
- Legacy Service Trophy
-
Each year we present the Kleinfelder Legacy Service Trophy to the office that best exemplifies our commitment to the community and corporate social responsibility. Last year, the San Diego office took home the honors. A few examples of their achievements included raising money for the Ronald McDonald House Charity, instituting an office sustainability initiative, donating food to the elderly, sponsoring a toy drive, and cleaning the local beaches.
